At Langlois Jewelry, it is possible to combine different shapes and diamonds/gemstones. The shape is not a futile detail; it will actually have an impact on the style and sometimes even fit different hand types.

We would like to mention that not every gemstones or diamonds are available in all shapes and sizes. It depends on the market, we cannot predict availabilities. Of course, we will do our best to accomplish your preferences and give you different options.



Round brilliant cut


This is from far the most popular shape for diamonds. With its 57-58 facets, the round brilliant cut offers an amazing brilliance. When a ray of light enters the upper part of the diamond, it reflects on the pavilion angles and goes back to the observer’s eyes. When it is perfectly cut, the light is refracted in the colors of a rainbow.



Princess cut (Square)


The princess cut is usually in second position in terms of popularity for diamonds. Set in a solitary or combined with other stones, the princess cut looks fabulous with its straight lines. There are usually 76 facets for this cut. With its large table, it makes it easier to observe irregularities with a naked eye. Following this, it would be recommended to select this shape for diamonds with SI1 clarity and above.



Emerald cut (Rectangular)


Emerald cuts were first used for emeralds. For their deep color and important amount of irregularities, emeralds can be hard to cut. The corners are slightly angled to prevent any damages on the stone since emeralds hardness is graded 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale. It is now common to see other gemstones or diamonds with this shape. As the princess cut, its large table it is easier to observe irregularities with a naked eye. it is recommended to select this shape for diamonds with SI1 clarity and above.



Oval


Oval shape is becoming very popular, with both diamonds and gemstones. This shape is universally appreciated for its long shape like marquise and pear shapes. With its 56 facets, oval shape is often set with a halo of diamonds around to maximize the sparkle.



Pear


Pear shape is also named «drop» or «tear» shape. It is known for its unique elegance. The complexity of the cut is basically caused by finding the perfect proportions. With its 56 facets, the ratio between the length, width and the round side are the result of an outstanding craftsmanship while cutting the stone.



Marquise


The story behind this classic shape goes back to Louis XIV, who was king of France. It was created to look like its mistress smile, the Pompadour Marquise. With its pronounced length, this cut shines perfectly with a total of 58 facets. The marquise shape requests a special setting at its extremity, to protect the stone and add comfort.



Heart


For obvious reasons, the heart shape is considered as the most romantic shape. With its 56-58 triangular facets, it makes the stone dazzle amazingly. This shape is in the most expensive to create. Why? With all its angles and the table’s surface, there is an important amount of the rough diamond or gemstone that is wasted. Indeed, the cutting implies a large sacrifice of the rough stone.



Asscher


The Asscher cut was elaborated by Joseph Asscher in 1902. From its 58 rectangular facets, it commonly is called the square emerald cut. With its important table surface, it is recommended to select this shape for diamonds with SI1 clarity and above.



Cushion


The cushion cut diamonds have been very popular in the last few years. Its unique shape is principally appreciated for the mix between straight lines and round corners. We will also modify the angles of this shape to maximize the color of colored gemstones and Fancy colored diamonds.



Rose


The rose cut was the first diamond shape with facets. It is during the 16th century that it was mainly produced. With its 24 facets, the diamond doesn’t have a performance as other shapes. However, there is a new market for rose shape, with its «vintage» allure.



Radiant


Radiant cut is known for its exceptional light dispersion. With its 70 facets, this shape is from far the most sparkling within the rectangular and square cuts. It can easily be set with different styles of jewels; earrings, pendants or ring.



Trilliant


This unique shape is inspired by triangles. With its three equal sides, trilliant shapes are usually composed of 31 to 50 facets. You can easily have it as a solitary or accent stone. Only a perfect respect of its ideal proportions will make the stone sparkle, especially its pavilion. A wrong deepness will have a dramatic impact on its brilliance.



Baguette


Mostly used like accent stones, the baguette shape diamonds are generally found in small sizes. With 14 rectangular facets, this shape easily complements other diamonds with a subtle brilliance.
